Just wondering if there's places I've over looked, so where's the best BBQ in NOLA.

I like Blue Oak, but when I can get some, LA23 has some of the best brisket I've ever had.

Brisket? in LA? man if you want Good! brisket you need to go to Texas.

You haven't tried LA23..... So good, that they sell out almost every day. Wife went there 30 minutes AFTER they OPENED, and they were sold out on multiple occasions.

You can get burnt ends at Blue oak. I miss the ribs at LA smoke house, but they closed.

The Joint is great. Blue Oak is good but overrated and over priced. LA 23 is awesome. LA 23 brisket is as good as I've had...and I've had it in TX

I find The Joint to be GROSSLY overrated. I was there last weekend. Mediocre at best.
Blue Oak, a bit tastier, but is still seriously lacking. Namely soul. The gas fired smokers just have no soul.
I agree, if you want good brisket than make a pilgramage to Lockhart, TX. Be forewarned though, after having Blacks all others will be crap.

I agree that the Joint is overrated. You can get better brisket at *gasp* WHOLEFOODS....

There's also central city bbq which my wife likes their ribs.

If you are going to Texas, you may want to try Killen's bbq in Pearland. BEST beef rib (dinosaur bone) I've ever had. Brisket is good and ribs are tasty.

Seriously that's good to know. As I have admitted I'm no bbq guy but I found The Joint's brisket to be tasty, but it's now out of the way for me. Wholefoods is a lot closer, might whip by today

For a quick meal, I usually get a BBQ brisket sandwich for 6.99 there

chef rob the guy who owned Nolasmokehouse was at central city BBQ in the beginning but quit recently. So ccbbq isn't good anymore.

Frey = got sick there and the best thing there was their biscuit

    Joint = overrated

Chef rob = still does popup

Pecan lodge / hard 8 = dallas = not worth it

Blue oak = tried twice not a fan even though they have greatly improved from popup to the their new location.

Finding good BBQ (either Texas or Carolina style) in LA is about as easy as finding good Étouffée or jambalaya in Montana.

Oddly enough with all the Hispanics around I feel the same way about Mexican here. I mean I've has decent but some of the best Mexican nearby (according to my American standards) was right outside of Jackson, MS of all places.
    I guess I'll start a Mexican thread.

Hogs for the cause March 23rd and the 24th! The team I'm apart of makes some amazing BBQ! Check out Hogs next year! It's for a great cause. And come see our booth! Team Mr. Pigglesworth. If I get drunk enough. I'll be the one running around in a pig suit.

Central city bbq is the best. Blue oak is okay, I found they are inconsistent. Joint is overrated. The boudin at Central city is worth the trip. The newspaper said recently, it's the best bbq place in New Orleans, ever! I agree.
