My first deer

I've only been deer hunting 3 times in my life and today I got my first one, a five point healthy buck. Now I know what people mean when they talk about buck fever. I thought for sure I had missed him because my hands were shaking so bad when I shot. Found him about 100ft away dead as a doornail.

Awesome, what rifle did you use?

I used my new Savage model 10fp .308 with 150gr. Winchester ballistic silver tips. About a 150 yard shot. He was facing me the whole time and would not turn so I could get a broadside shot on him, so I just aimed at his chest. The bullet just missed his heart, but severed a main artery.

Man, I was so excited I didn't even think of that. And my hunting buddy didn't think of it either, because he had just killed a 10 pointer Too much excitement!!
