I'm just about done with building my Tantal and thought I'd share a few photos of the process.

Here is the kit I received. Polish manufacturing is hard to beat. The machining was beautiful.

The demilling process is so much easier with a vertical mill.

This was the barrel being headspaced into the trunnion.

Here is the flat being bent.

    One bent receiver flat.

The lower rails had been welded and then the holes had to be drilled for the trunnions.

My very high tech heat treating process.

I found a good match for the original finish and prepped and painted all the parts individually and will touch up when done.

    Riveting in the front trunnion.

After the trunnions were done, I used and end mill to mimic the factory spot welds.

    Then add a trigger guard.

And mill out the magazine stabilizers to fit.

This is where I stopped the other day and I will hopefully get it finished up tonight. I'll update with some new photos when I do. This is just a quick run down of what I did and not really an instructional.

I started pretty similarly. Except I had a cheapo drill press. I just picked up the mill around 6 months ago and it makes so much of this work a breeze.

I have one of those cheap harbor freight drill presses. The only thing I use it for is drilling reciever. Another thing that comes in handy is a drill bit sharpener.
