Looks to me like poor heat treating on the slide so I sent an email to the Mothership to see what they say. Thanks for checking that for me.I just looked at 4 well used 1911's and none have that bevel on the slide stop
Technically I have 2 1911's, one Puma 1911-22 ( just a copy that looks like one only) and this R/I. I plan on getting a few more and hopefully one longslide in 10mm.Congrats, and welcome to the 1911 club!
I just added 1911 number eighteen to my collection. One of the joys of the 1911 is that there's an almost endless bounty of permutations and variations. I've got 1911s in seven different calibers (.22 LR, 9mm, 10mm, .45 ACP, .357 SIG, .38 Super, and .38 Special), in five different barrel lengths, etc.
You picked a fine 1911 to start with. I wouldn't worry about the sights; put a few hundred rounds through it first. You might be surprised what it's capable of.

Sorry that I was late to the party. Realized that a minute after I posted ...Technically I have 2 1911's, one Puma 1911-22 ( just a copy that looks like one only) and this R/I. I plan on getting a few more and hopefully one longslide in 10mm.
I might Holler at you about that depending what the Mothership says.I have a spare slide stop if you want to try it.
I am looking for some soon. I just wanted to get gun operating normally first since it ran so flawlessly during breaking. And I will drop this hint one more time. Wilson Combat MaMags.
