night vision equipment

Hey boys and girls, need some input on night vision scopes, goggles, etc. Brands, generation, retailers? I know gen 3, 4 are expensive. Just looking for basic SHTF equipment. Thanks

I have a friend who has a gen 4 and once you look though it you are ruined for anything else, you don't want less than gen 3

dealextreme sells a 3 watt IR CREE LED (3 led's), about $15 for the led, another $15 for their flashlight that it fits, but i think it fits surefires, etc...

Last I heard... there IS NO Gen 4.

THere's Gen 3+... but as I understand the Military decides gens.

Gen 2 minimum IMHO.

I beg to differ. For $39 you can't beat it, especially when coupled with an IR Illuminator. Just my opinion
