I'm going to be in New Orleans for weekend. I'll be busy during the day, but should have a good bit of free time in the evening and at nights. Is there anything to do or worth checking out other then all of the bars and clubs?

There's always a good selection of live music going on, catch a show. Don't lose too much at the casino downtown, and Gordon Biersch which is right across the street from the casino is a great place to grab a dinner and some beer.

It'll be and the wife. Food and music are always good.

You have the traditional walk down Bourbon which i would highly discourage.

For music, go to http://www.nola.com/entertainment/ and pick your poison.

If you go downtown, stayy off the side streets and keep a keen eye for hustlers. Make sure you do not look like a target or get too drunk. Lots of fun to be had, but it is an adult town, so you need to act like one to avoid most trouble.

Well said nola. Enjoy yourself, be aware but not paranoid. Trouble only seems to come to those going out of their way to find it.

Saturday is the St. Patty's parade so the city will definitely be hoppin' (and full of drunks).

    www.nola.com also has restaurant listings.

There's something almost anywhere in town, but it would help if we knew where you were staying if you want us to recommend something close to there.

NOT sure of what your age is, I was there last weekend and I went to the Metropolitan and the Eifel, they both clubs that are NOT in the middle of crazy madness, Bourbon is always nice for Tourist but its a little too crazy for me.

They have valet parking at the Metropolitan, its pricey $30 bucks but its a comfort thing IMO, if you rather walk and save the money then thats on u, the club itself was nice and wasnt too crazy prices were average, and they have quite a good amount of Security in the club.

We ate during the evening on magazine street, lots of little cafes and cafeterias with awesome food, most of them are NOT open for lunch though and they start serving around 3-4, good mexican food joint called Nacho Mama (I think).

Thanks for the replies. The hotel is charging for internet and since the upgrade the mobile site won't load on my phone. The entertainment site that nola listed looks good, and ill try the suggestions that I can. I'm staying on commons @ cardonlet, so we're already in the middle of everything.

"Muriel's @ Jackson Square, Chartres/St Ann has been very good lately. Park free @ Place d'Armes next door on St Ann. That is the most secure parking in the F.Q. Just get Muriel's to stamp your parking ticket.
