Anyone here work on electronics and know a good place to order capacitors? I need to change a few on a motherboard and Rat Shack doesn't have the sizes I need. Guess I'll order a couple of extras just so the shipping doesn't cost more than the parts. :(

The ones that I need to replace are (3) 16V 1500 uf and (1) 6.3V 3300uf (don't know how to make that symbol). Computer works fine at the moment, but they are swolen so I want to change them before they pop.

I will also check out the sites alex suggested.

For future reference, you can use the Alt key and while holding it down, enter 0181.

As for the caps, I was gonna suggest Digi-Key or Mouser as well.

Thanks, where do you find that kind of info (the alt key +)

Chances are if you replace the capacitors once, you will do it again.

I'm sure I will, but I really need to do this as cheap as I can right now rather than changing the mobo and all that.

Ordered from Digi-key, thanks everyone for the help.

Go to Start Menu -> Accessories -> System Tools and click on Character Map. From there, you can choose different fonts. Most of the characters will have the ability to use the Alt+XXXX method. Some would have to be copied and pasted. There is the ability there to do just that as well.

There have been issues with some lesser quality capacitors have been used accidentally on motherboards, video cards, etc. in the past. Higher quality ones can sometimes alleviate the issue.
