I know this has been discussed here often, but I can't find anything.

A guy wants to buy a Sig 556 I have. He wants to give me a pistol plus cash. I am in La. he lives in Mississippi.

Do we need an FFL for both guns?

He just told me his pistol was purchased in La. Don't know if that matters or not.

If you want complexity, try selling a gun to an individual in CA. I just did a shotgun. My FFL had to get authorization from the CA DOJ to ship it to an FFL in CA. Without the authorization, the CA FFL cannot accept the gun. To do so is criminal. PITA

You can buy a rifle from a dealer out of state, but not a handgun. I don't know if FTF is the same or not. If so you could find a La dealer to do the paperwork on the handgun coming out of state and hand him the rifle in person.

Either way the same FFL in Louisiana should be able to handle everything. I don't know if you can hand him the rifle like a FTF or if you would have to go through the FFL to be legal.

I would probably see if I could get an FFL to give me a break on both transfers and do both through him. He would know if he could do a 4473 for an out of state person and then it takes the heat off of you.

Sounds like I should just go through an FFL just to CMA.

OK, I need a dealer/FFL in the Slidell area to handle this for me. Any takers?

Or anyone know of a dealer/FFL I can contact?
