Not sure if this is the correct spot, but does anyone do foam cutting for the Pelican 1750 case? I am looking for my foam to be precisely cut with an electric wire knife. I am kind of picky with the finished product and I have replacement foam that is a heavy polyethylene foam.

    Let me know.
    Thanks!

It's not hard at all. Make a hot wire cutter with a doorbell transformer, dimmer switch, fishing leader, and odds and ends. I'm sure you can google it. I made my cutter stationary and moved the foam through it as if it were a sewing machine. Start off with just a little heat and increase as needed. If you put too much you'll burn the transformer. Trace your guns out with a chalk pencil and go at it.

I think the new stuff is all pluck foam isn't it?

I just left it as is in mine. I have to put a little weight on it for the latches to close but the gun isn't going anywhere.

My Pelican Storm is pluck foam like mentioned by Hattrick22. The 1750 still comes with a sheet of foam. I traced my rifle with a piece of tailor's chalk and cut it with my electric filet knife. No jagged edges anywhere on it. I've seen guys use really big serrated knives too

There is a place in Carencro, La. that will cut it precisely...I think they use some type of router. Anyway, the catch is you have to buy a denser piece of foam that the 1750 doesn't come with. I haven't had it done yet, but a friend of mine did, and the results were really nice.
