Hey guys just looking for some basic knowledge on plate carriers. Seems like when I find info it is way too in-depth and technical for my small brain.

I'm thinking of grabbing a Mayflower APC and dyneema inserts, possibly plates now or later.

Size wise I think I'm a medium. I know they're sized to the plates, so should I get a L/CL carrier so I can carry a bigger plate? At the same time I want to avoid something really bulky and uncomfortable.

Also, where is the best place to shop this stuff? Seems like there are limited places that stock this gear, especially armor. I like looking at skdtac but where else should I look?

Purpose, honestly, just for fun/to have/wannabe operator (i.e. it will sit in a closet). Most practical use will be having it available if I take a class one day. Awhile back I wanted to take a class and my chest rig never came in and my life got busy, but that's another story.

    Thanks guys.

I'd start by deciding if you want to go with a slick carrier and separate chest rig, or something that integrates into the carrier depending on your needs. Mayflower makes great options for both.

I had a HSGI Weesatch that I got from SKD back in the day. I'm wearing it in my profile picture that was taken in AFG. I was very happy with it.
