I have this old S&W Model 10 .38 revolver. I've considering rebarreling with a 6" heavy slab-side barrel and adding adjustable sights on a rib, possibly an Aristocrat or Bomar. From the research I've done, this looks pretty expensive, probably much more than the gun is worth and then not having much added resale value. Some have just suggested buying a used PPC revolver, or a S&W 586 or 686. Are there other alternatives to get me from where I am with this pistol?

The model 10 was a service pistol and wasn't anything fancy. It's still a great built revolver but I wouldn't sink a bunch of money into one. I'd say go with a 586/686 and be able to shoot magnums if you'd like.

Yeah, looking at the pics, I would remove the grips, get a set of Magnas (the small service grips), stick on some Tyler Ts and call it good. I wouldn't invest money to make a K frame some competition gun or hunting gun.

It's a model 13-4 built by Clark Custom Guns. It's called the Custom Combat and has an Aristocrat rib sight and the smoothest trigger I've ever felt on a revolver.
