    I just saw an old ad for 3 NIB Ruger AC556 with 13 inch barrels and factory folding stocks. Consecutive serial numbers. $1800 each.

    The ad was from 1998.

    Shoot! Scan that bad-boy and post!

    I like thumbing through old SOF and Shotgun News Mags... It's always amazing to see how much firearms use to go for "back in the day."

    Prior to the oil embargo I remember 36 cents/gallon gasoline for my dirt bike around 1972. Then came the oil embargo with higher prices and long lines for gasoline.

    I remember suckers were 2 for a penny, gas 19-21 cents, bread 5 cents loaf, milk 10 cents qt., double feature movie 15 cents, candy bar and a coke 10 cents for both. Could leave your bicycle outside the theater while in the movie and it would be there when you got out. My Dad bought a brand new Ford for 1100 something in 1952. Brand new 3 BR, 2 Ba brick home in 1957 was $13K.

    I guess I am not that old, but I remember:
    1. My parents taking me to see Kenny Rogers in concert when I was 3. I used to watch The Gambler often;
    2. My dad taking me to see The Empire Strijkes Back in the theater;
    3. Waiting for new albums from Metallica, Guns & Roses, and Soundgarden...
    4. Live shrimp in an Igloo with an aerator running alligator clips to a battery... and it was considered fancy.

    Damn.

    That equates to 3.57 gallons per hour of gasoline in pay.

    If that were steady with todays $3.39/gallon, that'd be $12.10/hour. Kinda makes the fast food workers' strikes for a $12/hr minimum wage look a lil different.

    Not really. They paid me what I was worth to their business. Restaurants pay their employees what they are worth to their business. There is a magnificent symmetry in capitalism that seems to escape you.
