Gentlemen,
I have a Remington 597 22 magnum rifle that is having a trigger reset issue. I'm trying to get this fixed for my father and may have to resort to just taking it in to a gun smith.
Any gunsmiths on our BS boards here that have a good knowledge in The Rem 597 models? I'm located in Walker.
The specific issue:
Rifle fires first shot. Second round IS cambered, but trigger does not reset. (Set screws are NOT over tightened...back off 1/4 turn). Guide rod springs are properly reinstalled as well.
I'm using 45gr Winchester Dyna point 22MG ammo.
I've disassembled and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. Read a lot on rimfirecentral forums and YouTube.
A lot of guys are saying to polish the guide rods, etc. so I'll try that next. If no luck, then I'll go with a good gunsmith.
Thanks
