Mates, I’m thinking about purchasing a Ruger Blackhawk in 357. I’d love y’all thoughts on whether to buy the 4.62 versus 6.5. My buddy has a 6.5 that I shoot good, but the 4.62 seems more practical to me.

Go with what works best for you---that's why they make both---I personally
like the shorter of the two---personally I never cared much for longer barrels
    on any handguns---

I used 6.50" to target shoot for years.
I was in search of one in 45 Colt / 45acp Convertable
But found a great deal in 5.50"
Same thing with my .357 Magnum / 9mm 5.50" Convertable
    Both are well balanced
Really depends on the usage you intend to use it for.

Like 340six said it depends on what your using it for.
Longer barrel is heavier so a little less felt recoil. If shooting open sights you have a longer sight radius.
Shorter barrel better for carry & home defense.
I love my 4” Security Six.

i'd agree with the others here. depends on the use and how well it balances for what you are doing. i don't shoot competitively so that isn't a factor. i have a 5.5" vaquaro bisley model .357 and a 4.5" vaquaro birds head .45acp. the bisley model balances well for me because it has the longer grip handle. i was worried the birdshead wouldnt balance as well but it does with that 4.5" barrel. i have a ruger single six with 6" which i compare closer to the blackhawk style of grip and it feels front heavy to me.

Had a 4.62” 357. Serious recoil and insanely loud to shoot. Need double hearing protection. If the gun is just for fun I think the 45LC is a better option.
