I got this at an auction, by bidding on the wrong damn gun.
They changed the numbers, and long story short... I never got my .357 I wanted.

    Serial Number H152xxx

Can anyone help me with determining Date, Value, and anything else that might be pertinent?

    Thanks in advance,
    BZ

Relying on the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" (3rd edition) it appears as though you have a Model 31 manufactured during 1981.

I was fortunate to find one during the mid-90's that was barely used at a cost of $400. Today I couldn't begin to guess how much yours might be worth. FWIW mine has proven to be accurate, reliable and fun to shoot.
