I'd like to purchase a small safe to put a single hand gun in. Something that can be kept close to my bed and opened quickly if needed but will certainly keep a child out. Any recommendations?

If you want something cheap, easy and workable, I bought mine at Walmart. I got the fire safe w/ keypad entry for, IIRC, like $25-30. It has a key if you need it, but the main thing I got it for was that you can enter a code (in the dark if you practice) to gain entry. You can bolt it to something for added security if you like. I have been quite happy with it. I am a foster/adoptive parent for the (Nanny) State, so I have to have stuff like that around to comply with all the rules.

i second the gun vault!! i know several people who own them and love them, i thought about a small one to mount in my truck under the seat
