Have any of you guys put a rifle scope on or tried to install one on a Saiga .223? I can't find very much info on the subject. I see some type of side mount job sold by someone in North Carolina but, then I heard they set up too high. Any help, comments are appreciated. Mac

This low mount is going to be the best way to go if you want side mount. They will generally hold zero within 1 MOA when removed.

That said, I have heard problems of Saiga or AK side rails being improperly installed off center, (up & down) and causing problems with you not having enough adjustment in your scope to get up or down to the target. This can be remedied though with the BP-02 mount. You can take the screws out of the top rail and put a thin washer under one of them and tighten it back down, thus shimming the mount. I have had to do this with a Saiga 308 before.

Another option is the Texas Dog Leg. They get great reviews, but not sure on availability right now. It hinges at the gas block so you can raise the whole rail and remove the dust cover for cleaning......though I'm not sure who cleans an AK anymore...

DO NOT go with a cheap dust cover mounted rail. They are cheap for a reason and unreliable.

If you are interested in a scout type mount, there are these guys:

    or even an Ultimak.....

Have you converted your S223 yet?

Thank you Vermiform. I will check those options out. No, I have not done anything to the rifle yet.

The Saiga is imported in a Sporter configuration to get around import restrictions. The trigger has been relocated further back and instead of a pistol grip it has a monte carlo stock on it. With a little work it can be put back in its original configuration. Go to http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php? and look around. There is also a 223 section. If you have any questions, holler.

Here's mine after conversion and with a AR mag adapter on it:

Or rather, it was mine until she stole it from me.

I think I am going to try the Texas dog leg approach. Gonna order one now. I will let you know how things go. Thanks for all of your help.
