Due to an unexpected, very unfortunate family issue, I found myself at home with little to do this weekend. So I decided to attempt an accurization project with a new savage 17 HMR.
I used a slightly modified version of this guys approach, using 1/8" lamp repair pipe for pillars: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?156630-Modifying-the-Boyds-stock-for-Savage-MKll
Then finished it off with a Manners' style sponge camo Krylon rattle can job. Going to test it out this weekend.
This is how it started life (stock photo)
Here it is after the pillar installation and bedding. Cleaned it up a bit after the pic.
And the finished product
If necessary, I may re-epoxy a couple small areas that seemed to be light on bedding; but otherwise I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
