I was just offering what your looking for. You won't find a place like this in LA or MS. This place is ceiling to floor full of stuff. I mean true hoarder style store. Imagine Walmart crammed into Alberstons. They have cats in the building to keep the mice away. My wife gets claustrophobic just from being in there.

Better hurry if you want any more stuff. Website says they're going out of business.

I appreciate it. Nothing personal, but I avoid Texas unless I get paid to go there. And that hasn't happened for a while. I may check out their site some more at lunch. Thanks.

"Let your fingers do the walking". Check out Strand Surplus online at http://www.colbubbie.com/. They are located in Galveston and advertise themselves as "The free world's only surviving AUTHENTIC military surplus store". They used to advertise a lot in Shotgun News (and still may), lots of good stuff.

My apologies, asianpersuasian, I now see that you had already posted about this site.

I hope I don't come across as too much of a jerk, but I posted in my original post how far I was looking to travel. I appreciate the suggestions, but please see the first post. I'm only willing to go to the MS coast because it would give me a reason to make a day trip to the casinos as well. I really don't want to go any further west than Baton Rouge.
Hope that wasn't too cocky. :)

Not at all, I read it, but completely disregarded everything you were looking for and posted it anyway...

Actually I didn't completely read your original post :) my apologies

There's a store in Gonzales. They have a ton of used uniforms from all the branches. Not top condition but they certainly have character. It's a smallish store... Search google for "gonzales military surplus"

They had a big retail store in downtown Galveston that was a two story brick warehouse. I was in Galveston about 4 years ago and I couldn't find it, may have been demoed.

I was in Galveston about 2 years back and they were there. My girl was down there more recently and as someone said, they're going out of business. I wish I had a reason to go that way and check it out, but I won't drive there just for that no matter how many memories that "authentic US surplus" smell brings back.

Let us know what you find out about the MS ones Nola. I've been looking for the same sort of store for a while myself.

I may not be able to get to the coast until September. Got one going back to Nicholls soon and I have a feeling most of my weekends will be used up heading back and forth to Thibodaux. But I'll be on the lookout for any such store down there.

There is/was Sinclair's in Baton Rouge. Last time I was there was a long long time ago. I think I recall someone recently mentioning on a different forum that it is still opened in a different location. From what I remember it is mostly like what you are looking for; real used surplus. Had that authentic old smell about the place too!

The location on Airline (with big sign still visible and all) is closed and has been for some time I think.
