My cousin lives in Texas. I live in Louisiana. My Aunt will be in town this weekend. (his mother) My cousin wants to purchase a firearm I have and just let his mom take the gun from me this weekend and he will send me a check for it. (No biggie on my end, I don't mind doing that, he is trustworthly blah blah blah) What legalities will I run into doing this? Can I just do a regular bill of sale with my Aunt and turn over the gun or is there a slew of state to state purchase laws that I will have to deal with? Thanks for the info, I just wasn't sure about state to state stuff.

    IANAL nor an expert.

He needs to receive it from a FFL.

You can ship directly to a TX FFL.
You can ship from LA FFL to TX FFL.
You can take to a TX FFL.

I don't think you can give to Aunt and have her take it to TX FFL. Not sure.

If it is a rifle or shotgun he may can receive from LA FFL. Also not sure on this one.
A FFL member can chime in on this.

In-state sales follow state law, no FFL required. Interstate sales follow federal law, FFL required.
