I'm confused. I thought you had to be 21 to possess NFA items. As a trustee, you can have possession of them at 18?

Yes, but IIRC, they cannot buy from a licensed dealer until 21. So if you bought the items, added an 18 year old to your trust, then they can possess them.

What about adding trustees after the law change? Will that person have to submit Id and prints on an already established trust? Or when the minor benefactor on the trust becomes of age...they stay simply as a benefactor or they become a trustee...prints/id? Thanks.

As I understand it, the only time anyone submits prints/id is when you file your next form 1 or form 4 to do a transfer of a new item. So I am not sure what would stop you from adding all the items you want to the trust, followed by adding more trustees. They would not submit anything until you want to add a new item at which point all 'responsible persons' on the trust must resubmit info. Once the benefactor is of age he is still a benefactor and not a 'responsible person'. I am not sure if an adult benefactor is allowed possession by himself like a trustee.
