Congratulations! and welcome to less than 1% of the US Population.

Upon graduation you will eventually come to represent all Veterans who have worn the uniform and have served before you.

    Remember that as you serve.

Basic training... Seems so long ago. Wait a minute, it was! Hope you like early mornings, lots of running, push ups, sit ups, etc. It goes by fast, once you're through. Seems to take forever while your in it though. You'll do fine and thanks for your service.

I remember the excitement of leaving the MEPS in New Orleans for the flight to Fort Knox Kentucky for basic training as if it were a few weeks ago and this was in 1996!!! Something you will never forget for sure. Enjoy it as another step towards meeting some amazing peaple you would have never met and some experiences you would have never had had you not joined!!! Good Luck. And yes do pushups and RUN!!!

Stay away from treadmills....it isn't the same.

Get on the road and start beating your knees to pulp. Get some cadences on your iPod too....running is easier if you can breathe and learning it their way before you go will serve you well. Also helps pass the time. Running is pretty boring.

Congrats again. I'll call when I'm heading down your way in a week or two. I should be able to give you a couple days heads up.

Well problem is, the roads around were I live, I am likely to get run over... and the only escape is into a deep ditch... so the treadmills are a very good substitute for me... when I can I will get to the Mandeville trails on the lake...
