It's been on my list for years to get a CMP Garand, got the paperwork done, now they've got Springfield and H&R Service grade rifles for the exact same price and was wondering if there's any difference other than the name on the receiver.

    Nick,
All of the HR's started life in the 1950's. The SA's may or may not be WW2 veteran receivers. Either way, they both will most likely be mixmasters. I got lucky a few years ago and received an HR that was all HR except the bolt. In the long run it doesn't really matter when it comes to shooting them. Parts are parts. I highly recommend a road trip to Anniston to hand pick. You won't be able to come home with just one. Bring deep pockets, and don't forget to pick up lots of ammo.
    Good luck..

I'm gonna start out with 1. Got the paperwork notarized and mailed out this morning, went ahead with the Springfield service grade and a spam can of ammo. Now the wait begins.
