I just picked up a Springfield V10 Ultra Compact, i don't know much about them cause i aint to schooled in the 1911 area Can anyone gimme some pros or cons about the gun so i can decide if i want to hang on to it or pass it on.
Well...it's a great, well made pistol IF it works for you. It's made to carry, but many people don't like the porting on a carry gun. Try it and see what you think.
Personally, I wouldn't keep it unless I was carrying it. With that short of a barrel you're not getting the full benefits/enjoyment of a 1911.
i have one and LOVE IT. if you are planning on carrying it then you need to make the effort to make sure it is reliable. this usually amounts to some $$$ and time.
side note: i have never understood the porting on a carry gun argument. i get the whole muzzle flash argument but it doesnt seem to hold much water. paging pangris, LSP and dawg to explain.
edit: what kind of mag well do you have on that thing?
Short barrel 1911's sometimes have feed issues... My Springfield Micro Compact had a very bad issue .. it took me a while to get it broken in enough to be trustworthy...
Take it to the range.. Shoot it see how it feeds and whether or not it stove pipes with the last round.. If it does you might just need new mags.. I have chip Mccormick and Wilson mags.. They seem to work nicely...
I've got a lot more money in mine than I will ever get out of it. I love the gun, don't get me wrong, I just had to invest more time and $$$ than I would have if I carried say a glock.
