Survey: Ruger 10/22 or Dedicated 22LR AR

I live in south LA and have no need to make a 200 yd. shot with a 22, so long range accuracy is not really an issue.

From a purely fun shooting factor, which do yo choose?

    Both

I think the M&P22 is more fun to plink with; the 10/22 is more accurate and better aftermarket support

I have both, a 10/22 with a bull barrel, scope, and boyds target stock and an AR22 pistol I built for range blasting. Before I purpose built my AR pistol, I had a ton of fun with a drop in .22 kit on my standard AR I use for work. It was a great training tool, the zero on my Eotech was still pretty much dead on at 50 yards and in.

the 10-22 will do everything the AR 22 will do. It's about 200 cheaper to begin with. But if a AR is what you want buy one and be done because it is not any cheaper to make a 10-22 feel like a AR. I bought the colt M4 22 because I wanted the weight of the real rifle to teach the kids but the S&W is a nice little gun too. I've only had trigger time with the colt but it will shoot with any 22. I would prefer either the 10-22 or dedicated .22 AR to a 22 kit for real AR as in my exp they are just about all finicky junk.

Another vote for the 10/22. The AR-22's offer no advantage in my opinion. The 10/22 is much less expensive and no less enjoyable.

If you want to drop an ungodly amount of cash into a custom ultimate 10/22 go right ahead (I did . . . twice, and have plans for another)
1 precision rifle B&C stock, Clark barrel, VQ trigger group, bolt work, ect.
2 off hand Archangle stock painted white, SS Ruger target barrel, red dot, trigger and bolt work
3 ???? Gonna start with some ridiculous wood

If you want an AR style 22 get the S&W 15/22.
