Liberals are out to weaken Catholicism. How many of the Catholic church's positions are they attacking right now? Gay marriage, abortion, the health care law/contraception, etc. This is just one more attack on the church. The church can't respond effectively to the attacks due to their nonprofit status (if they become political then they loose their nonprofit status, not to mention become subject to property taxes).

This is not to say the attacks on young boys didn't happen or that it wasn't covered up. I think this has been handled internally by the church though, and I haven't heard any recent accusations lately.

I was once Catholic but I won't bash the church. There are millions of good, faithful people in that religion and you can't group them all together with the leaders. I do, however, believe that most follow blindly because "that's how it's always been done" and they never question the reasons or theory. This is the reason I left.

I thank God for the thousands of good priests that we have.
Shame on the ones who did wrong and covered things up.

I'm not catholic, but the church does allow priests to be married. I know one who is a widower.

I know a fellow who was an Episcopal priest, married with children, converted and is now an active RC priest in BR. Can't think of his name right off.

Fr. Frank Bass was an Episcopal priest and did convert to Catholism. He is married and has kids. This the only way a catholic priest can be married.
He is in the Baton Rouge Diocese and a great guy.

The number of children is irrelevant, 1 is too many. If the Catholic Church wants a better name for itself then the Catholic Church needs to be more responsible.
