Palo Alto Rifle and Pistol Club NRA Club No. C0051 CMP Club No. 42043 17 January 2009 Some outstanding scores were turned in by the twelve brave souls who shot in sub-freezing temperatures on an overcast winter day. The match was won by Dan Zelenka, who shot a fantastic standing score of 191-2X and who used the new rapid fire rule to full advantage at the 300 yard line with a 199-9X, for an aggregate score of 768-21X. Wayne Creel, Jay Hunt, and Bruce Pickering all turned in Master scores, with Wayne Creel taking the Expert class with a fine 766-16X. And, Otto Bader was on fire, shooting a personal high of 689-7X to win the Marksman class with a Sharpshooter score! NRA has published a new rule for rapid fire. Shooters will no longer move to either the sitting or prone position from standing, but instead will remain in position for rapid fire stages. Therefore, no “Shooters Stand!” or “With bolts remaining open, load!” commands will be given. Instead, shooters will remain in position with bolts open and firearms unloaded. The loaded magazine of 2 or 5 rounds must be on one’s mat or stool, and the rifle may not be in one’s shoulder. Once the target appears, the rifle will be loaded and the bolt closed. The rifle does not have to be in one’s shoulder to close the bolt.
