I am also interested. It looks like it has the potential to be rather expensive though.

Yeah, it could be depending on the model that piques your interest. Personally, I'm not interested in the GPS version so 225$ for the RFID/Biometric version is really not a bad price. I'm a fan of pretty things and it's certainly more attractive than any other gun safe than I've ever seen!

That looks like a winner to me. If only they would make a model for 2 full sized handguns.

In the comments section, the maker mentions that they could build this tech into other size guns safes. I'd love to have a rifle sized version. On this model, "the inside dimensions are 8.9in wide x 6.5in tall x 1.5in deep. The Box inner surface is lined with Neoprene. There are also mounting locations to attach a holster so if the box is mounted upside down your gun can be mounted to the lid as well. We also provide a plastic clip so when the box is mounted under a cabinet it will only open 45 degrees. The are also mounting holes in the top case for mounting the gun in any orientation."

I ended up ordering 2 of the RF/Bio versions. Looking forward to it!

I didn't actually go to the website and look at the prices or anything. I am not a big fan of having at home self defense guns locked in anything, but I also don't have any children around that could get to the guns. I'd be interested in seeing pics of yours whenever you get it in :)

Looking like about 200-400 price range depending on the model. Hopefully one of the big box manufacturers will want to pick it up and drive the price down. Thanks for posting.

How do you get in when the battery dies or circuits fry?
(I shamelessly stole that question from the comments at ENDO)

I like the rf tech though. I'd like to see it adapted to a small wall safe.

Call miley cyrus to break it open with her sledge. After she will probably lick it again

I wouldn't give money until I've had a chance to look it over. There was a video floating around that showed how easily most gun safe locks could be bypassed.

I just read it really quick but there was something about a combination back up.

    Edit*
It seems that I can't read properly. Now I want to know too.

It will have a safety screw that can be removed and a specific tool used to manually open the box.

I might wait until after the first wave of these are released to see if there are any bugs that need to be worked out.

I wonder why not just a key back up. If a specialty tool could have been employed then a key/lock could have too.

I still like it. I wonder how mounting it upside down works. Do you secure the pistol to the door?

This is pure conjecture on my part, but it doesn't look like is a traditional latch style lock in the gun box (at least from the pictures). I read a comment somewhere that said the hinges are servo controlled. So it makes me wonder if the lock mechanism is the servo-controlled hinges. In that case, a traditional key lock might more difficult to pull of then a special tool. But again, this is just a wild guess ... I have no idea.

I wonder how mounting it upside down works.

It is advertized to work in any orientation. On their website, it shows pictures of it mounted in different orientations. My understanding is that you can actually mount a holster within it. Also, you can control how far the clam-shell opens with some sort of clip system.

Do you secure the pistol to the door?

Not necessarily, but the pistol is secured when it is not on my body.

Well being that it is thin aluminum sheet I would say 5 minutes with a dremel and you are in bidness.
