Prices are pretty affordable for them right now. There's already a huge surge of gun buying and I'm thinking with the increased speculation and huge spike in NRA membership that will get just get bigger.

Not to mention, if prices are going to soar to holy sh*t levels I might as well own a stake in one of the companies that will be bending me over a barrel.

I admit to knowing next to nothing about finance so to those of you that do, is this a good idea or should I just stick to medicine and leave the stock market to the ones who know it.

    TIA

Unless you have a ton of cash to purchase 1k or more, you have missed the ship on S&W. They have had a 100% increase in stock price over last 2 years. Their P/E ratio was around 9 last I checked. With a low P/E you would assume a company is poised for growth, but S&W has had increased production since 2008. My 2¢

As a quick and dirty finance 101, investing in anything is something you do when you have researched the company, their operations, strategic planning, debt and equity ratios, regulatory environment etc. investing based on retail prices soaring in the short term is a Horrible idea.

More important than retail price is their tax uncertainty right now. Right Now, lots of companies are trying very hard to make their profits, distribute dividends or sit on their retained earnings in order to pay as much taxes Now and not "make any profits" next year so they can not pay the higher taxes then. That's making the stock market look less bleak than it should be, and individual companies' earning per share look better than they really are.

Next year would probably be a good time to get into the market, IMO. Right now, probably not so much.
