so after shooting my friend's Sig Sauer p229 .40 caliber, i started to look into the Sig Sauer line of products. and off the bat, the Sig Sauer P220 Carry Elite model in Stainless steel and in Equinox caught my eye. I've been looking up video reviews and reviews of the p220 and all seem to point in the right direction. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with the p220 carry? I loved the way the p229 shot. very nice feel in my hands, and accuracy was very nice. so assuming the p220 will be the same in feel and accuracy. just looking at my next future gun purchase. also i am looking at the p220 carry because i plan on using that as my CCW when i get my conceal carry permit. Any opinions/ experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I carried a P220 (fullsize) through POST firearms training and for a few months of work before I switched to Glock, I also concealed it for a few weeks before I bought my G26. Great gun, very accurate, dependable, etc. The Carry model should be just as good, being a full size frame it won't conceal as easy as a compact or subcompact but it can be done.

Others on this site will have a hate/hate relationship with current SIGS :) and LSP72 can give you LOTS of firsthand accounts of how they performed during LSP usage.

For me, I've used/owned the 220, 220 Carry, and 220ST (now THERE is a heavyweight) at various times and am a fan of SIGS, then and now. I don't know about "wonderously accurate" or any of the other hype you tend to read about SIGS but they are accurate enough, and can generally hold better than the shooter manipulating them. What more to you want in a defensive arm? Oh...and they, like Glocks, imo do tend to go "bang" when you pull the trigger. I've moved almost exclusively to 9mm's now, cheaper to feed and that means more trigger time for me.

Only thing I would add is that the newer Elite line, with regards to the beavertail addition to the frame, seems like a solution in search of a problem. Was there ever really a hammer bite issue on the DA/SA Sig? Not that I ever heard or saw, and I've been around a LOT of them over the years. Make it look "sexier" perhaps? Okay, beauty in the eye of the beholder but imo it makes it slower to cock for SA fire should that be desired over the older non beaver frame. That nitpicking aside (and YMMV on that issue), if you have shot them and like them, you're probably good to go for one of your own. I do like the front serrations on the Elite's for press check however.

    Hope this helps.
