So I really enjoy throwing tomahawks. I've got 3 of them, but my problem is that I don't have anything good to throw them at. I used to have some soft trees that worked perfectly, but not at the place I'm living now. I'm trying to find a Louisiana based knife and tomahawk throwing club, but the only one I have been able to track down is in Monroe, whereas I'm in Denham Springs, and that is just too far away. So I figured I'd pick the brains of the Bayoushooter community on a few matters: 1. Anyone else here like to throw knives/hawks? 2. Is there a throwing club nearer me? 3. Does anyone happen to have any slices of tree trunk 2-3 feet in diameter and 4-6 inches thick? These are the best targets, but I don't have a chainsaw or any trees I can readily murder even if I did. 4. If anyone wants to start a throwing club, let me know! Time and money are really short right now, but at least it is cheaper than shooting. There are organizations like the International knife throwers hall of fame and American Knife Throwers Alliance that have standard rules for scoring, etc, much like USPSA.

Check with tree removal companies, a lot of times they won't chip or chop firewood until they get it to their places of business. If a water oak bites the dust when the roots let go, they'll load up bigger chunks. If you let them know you're looking, it's super easy for them to cut you a good size medallion off of the trunk before they make cords of firewood.

After that, it's a couple of holes drilled, a piece of rope, a place to hang it, and target practice!
