Trimming leather

I bought an inexpensive leather holster for my Shield 9mm. There is no stitching and the backing is one piece of leather. It is a little long and folds over a little making reholstering a little more troublesome. What should I use to trim this leather back?

I've used and sharp knife and a cutting board before, or a stout pair of scissors.

A new holster made of kydex or with a reinforced leather mouth to prevent you from sending one into your leg.

So a brand new xacto knife would work then.
