Don't know if it helps much but I get them from jse surplus, chrome moly 1-7 or 1-9 flat top uppers complete and ready to fire for $375 and they have a ton of options to customize, I haven't found any better bang for the buck.

Sounds like a great deal! I'd go 1-7 to shoot the hornady taps for defense

JSE Surplus does have some good deals! The 16" flat top was out of stock though.

Still looking. Thanks for all the replies. Found a 20" upper with Krieger SS bbl, smooth handguard, flat rec. and block, $450. No BCG or CH. I want a carbine though. It's in Taylorsville MS.
