bout time the world community lets international cargo ships protect themselves..

see, I don't "get" that. I'd be protecting myself and my international cargo ship with all resources available to me, and if the "world community" could recover the Somalian pirates sunken vessel and/or their bodies and get it/them to tell the tale, then so be it.

one thing from the video... seemed like all semi-auto fire.

Guys on the ship probably haven't heard about the price increase and scarcity of ammo yet. Would be cheaper and smarter to just shoot them as they will return.

Found myself shouting "yeah! Get some! F%*^ing pirates!"
I hope they put a few rounds through their hulls. They'll have plenty of pirate company down in Davy Jones' locker.

I can understand a shipping company not wanting to be associated with actually killing someone; but if they don't go away after a few warning shots, it's time to aim for effect.

What the hell? I didn't know that those big international shippin' companies were allowed to protect themselves with military personnel. If they can, why can't I!?

Those aren't military members. They are private contractors. They get paid a hefty salary to do what they do.

The pirates are not there to politely inquire about a cup of sugar. If they were already sure of the intent and crew of the approaching vessel, why not just kill them? Is there any downside?
