What kind of bird is this

I walked out to get the paper this morning and this fellow was standing on my porch getting harassed by a song bird. It briskly walked to hide under my bushes but never attempted flight. His tail feathers are fairly short so I'm wondering if he's a juvinile. The body is about the size of a small chicken. Any ideas? Rail perhaps?

Looks like a King Rail or Clapper Rail. mpl006 photo looks like a woodcock.

Thanks guys. Looks like Barry may be onto something. It's not a Woodcock for sure. I was sctatching my head because I'm in a neighborhood with NO water anywhere close. Trying to figure out where it came from.

Looks to me like it could be a juvenile green heron (or something in that family)

Looks like a baby yellow crested night heron. They show up around me to eat the locusts when they start popping out of the ground. And other bugs to.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks similar to a Clapper Rail / Marsh Hen but the beak appears to be too short or may be the picture. ???

Damn ocd on this has me having to reply. All snakes are non poisonous. The dangerous ones are venomous.
