whats the difference in a Remington 1100 and the 1187?

    2 3/4" chamber VS 3" chamber

Most old timers swear by the 1100 and its reliability where-as the 11-87 is said to have some issues with low brass. I have owned both and neither have ever given me any problems however they were both using big game loads exclusively. They are both gas operated shotguns and I'd say if an automatic is what you want they are both nice guns.

*Note* the 1100 that I had was an older model with wood furniture, I'm not familiar with the new era 1100 that is marketed as a competition gun.
