I heard last year(hearsay) that the bulk of their production line went to filling some foreign government contract. Thereby setting into place laws of supply and demand. Probably just a coincidence that this occurred during an election year. Prices should come down if you are willing to wait.

The old law of supply and demand. If you're willing to supply the money, the seller is willing to demand a higher price.

It seems like FN doesn't import many these days. The last batch arrived this summer and was quickly recalled due to some sort of QC issue.

And if you passed up a new 17s for $2500 you missed the deal of the century.

I thought they were supposed to open a manufacturing plant here in the states to eliminate some of these issues. Could have sworn I read that somewhere.

My comments were not directed "at" you nor anyone else. It just seems like here and on other forums the first time someone post on the opposite side of a topic a dog pile ensues. I was attempting to cut that off at the perveriabale pass.

If your screen name is any indication of your profession you have added to the stigma with your response. Condemning an action while at the very same time performing it. Public servants / officials are and IMO should be held to higher standards. If you are a professional public servant, act like one and take the high road. A quote I recently heard we all could try to adhere to. "Be the fountain, not the drain."

Inflection and hence intent is difficult to covey in print. I'm sure we are both heading in the same direction. Have a nice day and be safe out there.

Whatever. My profession has not **** to do with personal opinions about non-le related topics on an internet gun forum. I guess if I was oilfield trash I could just act an ass with no regerts. Speaking of that, this IS an Internet gun forum, a place where discussions can and should take place involving varied opinions. Seems like that may be something you are not to keen on unless it's the same opinion as yours. You can keep your nice day and be safe ****, ending your post with that is tantamount to pissing in my lemonade and telling me to enjoy it.

    Way to remove all doubt.

well .. I've owned a scar17 for I dunno how long now... years. I've dropped it in the mud .. taken it on airboats .. dropped it out of a tree and have fired thousands upon thousands of rounds through it... steel and brass cases ..

its been to wyoming and alaska in the winter - still shoots like a champ.

I really have no idea how one could say its not rugged. Personally, Id trust it shooting every day all day long.

Now, I don't know what has changed through the years ... but I do know its a beast that will take a beating.

If it ever breaks ..ill be happy to let yall know.

I'm no professional shooter, but I know how to shoot...

Lastly, I can nearly put holes in holes on paper standing using an elcan specter dr 1-4 on 4x @ 100 yards... today after i dont know how many thousands of rounds fired.

Oh ... I think $6000 for one is near retarded ... I paid almost 2400 for mine ... how ever many years ago that was.

Well guys I ended up buying the new model tavor thats called X95 in OD green from a gunstore in houma Louisiana called "desselles firearms"..got it for the very low price of $1,699.00 out the door...everyone else was charging $1750-2000 PLUS TAX..Cameron from desselles beat all the local gunstore prices I went to and even beat alot of online retailers prices..

Im gona hold out on the scar for a while because im confident when the supply catches up the demand and prices will go down..

My next purchase will be either a bushmaster ACR (i know it doesn't have the best reviews)but i personally handled on amd shot one out to a hundred yards and fell in love with it..
So next on the list is a ACR,im also looking at the Sigs 556,kriss vector etc..just some cool guns....

My tavor had to be ordered so it should be in sometime this week..ill post pics when I get it

Congrats on the Tavor purchase! By the way, what are the differences between the original and the X95?

You'd think that would have been a fiscally prudent thing to do, however, I can guarantee that 3 minutes after I had, FN would have announced a newer gen for $1100 MSRP! Lol

Now I really wish you did, I would love to stock up on a couple more SCARs at $1100 :D

Bruh forget the ACR, I don't care how much you played Modern Warfare 2. It's old news. ;)

Definitely wait for the Scar. We have lots and lots of time now for inventory to build up and prices to drop.

    Congrats on the Tavor!!!

Say what you want about the ACR....I love mine. I'm waiting on a Form 1 to come back for it to chop it down. Once the papers are in and my barrel gets back I'll be sure to post plenty of pics.

The most negative thing I can say about the ACR is the lack of "factory" support.....but what it lacks in factory support is more than made up by parts commonality with AR15s (triggers, barrels) and emerging aftermarket support (caliber conversions, lightweight handguards, lightweight trunnions, lightened bolt carriers, enhanced controls, etc etc).

Even in 14.5" trim, the ACRs are getting down in the low 7lb range. SBR'd they are ~6.5lb.

Lastly (and I'll get off my soap box), I held the ACR and the SCAR back-to-back before I made my purchase. The SCAR felt cheap and clumsy/clunky to me, whereas the ACR melted into my hands. Perhaps poor word choice, but I hope you get the picture. I love mine. No disrespect to the SCAR though, I'm sure it's a great weapon. I just haven't had a chance to put one through it's paces.
