I have an old Winchester Model 37 that's been sitting in the closet that was given to me by a lady who found it in her father's closet after he passed away. She did not like firearms so told me to either destroy it or keep it. I put it in my closet and forgot about it. The other day I took it out and cleaned off the surface rust and decided to try and shoot it. It shot about 5 shells and then I started getting FTFs. I would take the shell out and noticed very light primer strikes on the shells that failed to fire. It would shoot 2 or 3 and then light strike the next 2 or 3. Basically the same pattern through a box of shells. How much would I be looking at spending to repair this, or is it something I can do on my own..... I have basically zero gunsmithing knowledge, but I'm fairly mechanically inclined. I really don't want to put much in this gun.

It may just need a good cleaning. Could be some dried grease or something else slowing the hammer down a bit. Flush it out with a can of gun scrubber then lube it up a bit and see if that helps.
