    Curious as to what you guys believe to be the ideal combat pistol; the handgun that you feel gives you the best combination of reliability (arguably the most important), accuracy, capacity, ease of maintenance, etc. This isn't a "if you were a soldier" question in which you were limited to FMJ ammunition, so you shouldn't base your decision on that.

    I'm more curious to see what sorts of things people are willing to compromise, ie: perhaps the gun is not as fun/comfortable to shoot as others, or perhaps it's not one of the firearms we tend to here about all the time. I'm also curious as to what people think of polymer vs. steel vs. aluminum given the possible adverse environmental conditions a gun may experience.

    Anyway, opinions welcomed.

    Thanks for asking Taurus PT-101 for all of the above reasons:}

    I happen to like the Glock 29 10mm...plenty punch from close in and out at distance!
    Not to mention conversion to 40S&W/357Sig and 9x25Dillon...Oh yea! :)

    Worldwide accessibility to ammo and parts. Resistant to elements, ease of use, reliable, dependable, fairly accurate and combat proven. Even though it is not my choice of prefered hi cap pistols for a couple of reasons, it is the most logical even for an xd shooter like myself. Only reason it's not my favorite is because the xd fits me better despite it's "downfalls" which makes me a beter shot with the xd.

    On the other hand.........
    G21 or xd45 would be my personal choice if I wasn't that concerned about ammo accesabilty.

    I love the proven reliability (for the most part) of the Glocks, barring some issues when they redesigned for the Gen 4's, and began using different ejectors. I tend to wonder, however, if the Sig 200 line of handguns aren't more suitable for all-condition combat.

    And it doesn't have to be a gun that you own, but should be one that you are familiar with, otherwise, how would we really know if we'd prefer it.
