I think I ended up getting a larger model it was around ~800 if memory serves correct. It also comes with a sear station which works very well for steaks/char marks. Just did some london broil this weekend and it came out perfect and took about 10-15 min.

They make really nice grills for simple/quick cooking it is hard to beat.
I love charcoal grills too though but I just found that I marinade around the missing flavor that it adds.

i know you're looking for a gas grill, but the green egg hands down puts gas to shame. the xl model with a cedar or cyprus cart will far exceed anything you could cook on gas. I gave my gas grill away immediately. I almost would have paid someone to take it from me.

Ruths Chris quality steaks, phenomenal brisket (not the ******** you find around here), smoked duck, game hens, back strap, smoked lemonfish, tuna, pork loin, etc ... you should really consider one if you're serious about cooking.

While maintenance is a slight pain in the ass - watching your neighbors and friends bite into the amazing creation you just made on the egg pays for itself.

I grill 3-4 times a week, and it wouldn't be easy for me to light coal for a quick meal.... I have a smoker for when I want to cook low and slow

it takes 15 minutes to heat up an egg and about 5-6 minutes @900+ degrees to cook beef...even less for fresh fish from the gulf. Its a misconception the egg is "low and slow" as its capable of cooking over 1000 degrees.

Btw ..the secret to good beef and fish on a grill is excessively high temperatures.

+1 on the Big Green egg or a knockoff. I got a Visions grill which is a kamado style grill like the BGE and man that thing is awesome. I use it primarily to smoke which it does awesomely but if I forget to shut the lid and do the dampers right it will flare up like a nuclear detonation.
