Hypothetical situation: your pistol accidentally goes off in your apartment and the round goes into the ceiling. after about an hour of the cops not showing up and your neighbors not answering their doors, what do you do?

call the cops?
patch the hole?
tell the maintenance folks?

could you hypothetically, see Through the hole? if so, get a cool fiber optic camera and stick it through to check everything out up there. More points if the neighbors are home and see it. when the cops come, admit nothing.

I would truly give a year's salary to see my husband's face after he shot the television 16 years ago, give or take a couple months.

He *THOUGHT* it was empty. He dry fired front and down range of the living room and the TV went *boom*. The only reason I know that is because we were watching tv here at home about six years ago, and a person shot a tv in some movie. It exploded. Spec said "********, that's not what a tv looks like when it's shot". "Wait, wha?! What are you talking about? When did you shoot a tv?"

For the record, a television *implodes*, but not very dramatically. He kept that secret for ten solid years of marriage.

Stick a cleaning rod into the hole. If no penetration through to the up stairs occurred, patch with toothpaste to ceiling and forget about it.
If penetration through their floor occurred, invite yourself up stairs for some innocent reason (hey, do you have any steak seasoning, I just ran out...) And assess damage covertly. Go from there using common sense.
