BFG All Terrains. It's a quiet street tire than handles very well and has great tread wear, and it cleans well for offroad use. I have em on the F250.

I think bfg AT KO are good, but a tad expensive.. the explorer my friend will not get you very far on a jeep trail.. not without a great deal of add ons for the drivetrain..

I'd love to go play around in the mud, but alas, my big heavy ass Ram 2500 HD QC CTD 4x4 ain't really suited for forest trails. :( :hs:

Why? Same Ground clearance, same weight, more power, AWD.. I really don't see a need to turn this into another 9mm vs .45 debate...
    He's got:
    Solid Front Axle
    Solid Rear Axle
    a Real Transfer Case
    Recovery points
    Self Recovery Equipment
Easily Upgradeable/Replaceable Axles (which might already be locked, cro-mo's, etc. no way to tell from pic)

    You've Got:
    IFS
    IRS

Exactly. Tim and his Rover will go through much more than this:

Don't discourage. He wants to take it out, let him take it out. There is a Sicily island run happening in the middle of July. Check it out. I believe there is a large group going on the weekend of the 20th.

    ^This^

    and remember, AWD ≠ 4x4

uh, dual ford 8.8 posi on demand, ?? with 3.55s second strongest rear next to the Ford 9" why is that not 4x4?

Cant Argue with the F/R Solid axles but I'm not planning on Rock crawling.

a Real Transfer Case ( someone educate me on this? ) I have dual Ford 8.8 diffs between mine.

Recovery points ( I have 6, 3 front and 3 rear all from my old race cars and two of the factory)

Self Recovery Equipment ( does my 12K pound winch mounted on my receiver hitch count? along with tow straps, and come along count?

Easily Upgradeable/Replaceable Axles (Why Would the Explorer not be?)

the posi isnt real 4x4, its will not be clear till one wheel is in sand and you are stuck ..

Please dont take this the wrong way, I would love to own a ford to drive daily, and would be scared to death to trash it on trails, but it is not a truly locked diff..
read up on true lockers.. Also read up on axle shafts as opposed to CV axles.. axle shaft with U joint and number of splines, vs CV axle and number of Splines..

I do not want it to sound like I am pounding .. Sorry if it sounds like it..

My Stock Ford units had no problems making all 4 tires grad on my F150 until I went up to 40" Boggers, then I slapped in eatons. The Ford LSD unit is pretty robust, I definately won;t sell it short.
