Iberville Project residents in New Orleans complain because they do not have a mandatory evacuation order for the July 26 implosion of a hotel on the corner of Canal and Claiborne. The mandatory evac is for within 600 feet of the hotel and the projects sit right outside of that perimeter. They're all in an uproar because they think that they are being left out again like during Katrina.

My point is...if you think that you will be in danger and you have the means to evac...then go. I don't think you need a mandatory order to go anywhere if you THINK you will be in danger. Probably waiting on public transportation assistance...just another way to fleece the system. The sick and elderly,I do expect assistance for them, but the ones complaining are able bodied and younger and more than likely have the means to evac if they really wanted to.

yea, they know the date, besides a little bit of intellegence, what more do you need to get yourself out of what you may think is harms way?
    Stupid morons..

True dat! Most of them are perfectly capable of stealing a car for themselves. Perhaps that is too much like work.

The buildings in the Iberville are built very well. If I was inside of one of them I wouldn't be in the least concerned about the implosion.

Wouldn't a mandatory put the expense of the evac on the demo people ??

That's what they're shouting about. They don't want to be bothered unless someone is paying for it. Actually, nobody ever wants to or spend anymore money than they should to leave. However,we all read between the lines here and we all know WHAT'S UP. Someone's always gotta stir **** up because they're the "oppressed minority" and that they are always entitled to an indefinite restitution because their great, great, great, great grandparents brought over here against their will.....or whatever it is we did to them.

My dad lives in Bastrop,La. He said they bussed in a bunch of them and put them up in an abondoned Wal-Mart for a few days during a mandatory hurricane evac a few years ago. Local news went over to interview thinking they were going to be grateful. Said they bitched and complained the whole interview about the accomodations, air conditioning wasn't cold enough, the food. Oh, they also destroyed everything accessible to them.

If Mitch Landrieu had any balls, he would have a press conference and announce that this scheduled demolition is being done on private property by private individuals for private business reasons.

And he could then denounce his sister as a douchebag phony liberal suckass for taking bribes for her vote to destroy the health care industry.

Very few people have ever seen the extent of damage the so-called refugees from Katrina caused to the N.O. Convention Center; but it was extensive, cost millions to repair, and they stole or detroyed EVERYTHING that wasn't bolted down or made of concrete. EVERY SINGLE OFFICE AND ROOM in the entire structure was forcefully entered and ransacked! It was another stellar moment for the balck culture!

Please! Please! For God's sake! Erase this! You have no idea of what wrath you may be bringing down on yourself, since all of that was verified as untrue.

I don't live there so I don't know the people. I have lived around and went through Rita evac...I can imagine.

We saw hotels the govt paid for and were ransacked to the point of no towels, a/c's stolen...long list

Anyhow...it seems there should be a set rule as to who is evacuated and not. If they'e on the not side dam em and let them pay.
