Learned something new today. I got pulled over, was asked by the trooper to step out my vehicle. I wasn't speeding and had my seatbelt on, so I was pretty confused as to why he pulled me over. He then told me I was getting a ticket for not having my seat belt on. I told him that it was on, as it was, and he told me it wasn't over my complete body and arm as it should be. I've always worn mine with the cross belt goin under my left arm pit. This is the improper way to wear one. Ain't that some s*#$.......I know I'll probably catch hell with the cops here but it seemed like BS to me.

Wearing your seat belt that way will injure you just as bad or worse than if you weren't wearing one should you get in an accident.

    Over the shoulder.

Just for the record, I hate wearing seatbelts as well, but #1 it's the law & #2 it could save your life.

I never understood mandatory seatbelt laws for adults. I don't wear mine, but I won't be mad if I ever get a ticket because I realize its the law.

Thought that car was an extension of your home ? But then again I guess it's not really the case.
Well when it effects revenue, rules change as they fit. Let's be honest, it's all about money and revenue. Laws are laws and I broke one today. Gotta pay to keep the lights on and the brand new camaro's and tahoe's to keep everybody "safe".

Nevermind, yelling at someone who can't solve the perplexing riddle that is a seatbelt is a waste of time for obvious reasons.

Problem will sort itself out, I figure.

    DarWIN!

Seriously though, we complain about unfair taxes on here all the time, but I would be on board with a stupid tax. We could tax anyone who can't use a seatbelt, identify their left and right sides, or tell time using a standard clock, tax would double if you were unable to read a digital clock.

The State Police do not get a dime from any ticket they write. All the money goes to the parish and is divided among the DA's office, Indigent Defenders, criminal court's, and a bunch of other stuff.

I got fussed at by a local cop for that once. I am 6'2" and depending in which vehicle I am driving, the shoulder belt does not usually go anywhere near my shoulder, so it goes under my arm. Always has, always will.

Your tax money pays for the care of the uninsured not-so-brights who go headfirst through the windshield
