Who do you think is going to stop it?

I just don't think it will change but I also think this will be a good time to see if the strict scrutiny passage will help. I also think it passing would be a huge step in the right direction for Louisiana.

That's my point. I was really wondering who you meant by NAME that is going to NOT vote for it to pass?

With the recent Pro 2A RTKBA Politicians we have now, and as seen in recent years with MANY Pro-Gun laws being passed,
I find it hard to see where this will get stalled.

I'm really waiting to see the individual (STATE) restrictions for Class III items
being dropped like our neighbors in Texas.

I wasn't saying it in a one person type of way I was just saying I don't think it will pass.
Do I think it should pass? Yes.
Do I think our chances are better now then ever for it passing? Yes
Will I get my hopes up? No.

    Time will tell.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather see the "enhanced concealed carry" pass here, like what they have in MS, versus constitutional carry. My concern isn't for those of us who obey the laws, it's more about those yahoos that don't need to be carrying at all, if this passes they could legally do so.

Of course, this is just my initial thought, so I reserve the right to change my mind if necessary or convenient.

The yahoos tend to carry regardless of legality now.....

I'm curious to see what support Jindal throws behind it if any, considering his broader ambitions.

    I'm for it.

I really want to see this pass. It seems like with our current constitution you shouldn't need a permit anyway. I personally believe that if you can legally own a gun you should be able to carry it. Shouldn't need a permit from the government saying you can carry it. Besides the concealed carry classes are a waste just another way for the state and people to make money. It's not like they are some kind of magical training that makes you an expert with a gun.

I think this will run into lots of loudly vocal opposition from districts with large cities such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge, where many people can't seem to see beyond the high numbers of homicides committed with guns. Large, often easily-led blocs of voters, walking behind their pastors/reverends, all thinking that getting rid of guns would stop murder. In our small city with nearly 20,000 registered voters, two or three crotchity neighborhood cranks can often grind our city council to a halt with some sharp words (unless Wal-Mart wants to build another store) just by being the ones who bother to make themselves heard. I think this could easily be defeated by the vocalized fears of a few regardless of what the majority of state residents would prefer, because the majority of state residents won't bother to get out and be heard. If this can get to a popular vote, it might have a chance.

If you want this to pass, you need to get behind him! You need to get the message to YOUR own representative(s). Crap like this is a numbers game unless money is involved.

There has never been a more pro-gun Legislature in Louisiana than this one. If it makes sense, with some prodding from constituents it should pass. If the fix is in to kill it, you will see it. These scum use the phony dog and pony shows in committee to hide the pre-determined fate of these bills from the public. That, or someone (a so called leader of the cabal), will tell this fledgling Representative (elected in 2103), to pull his bill. Perhaps in exchange for some ******** project in his district or a favorable vote on another bill etc. And yes! Even in this Mickey Mouse state, they use the same tactics as their kindred scum in Washington.

This guy ran hard on a pro-gun platform, so at least he believes in this endeavor.

This. CHP holders rarely cause problems, but the national press will descend on LA like a bum on a bologna sammich when the first constitutional carrier pulls his weapon to defend his sister/girlfriends honor. I hate bureaucracy as much as you do, but I certainly have known folks that I wouldn't want carrying.

You can't have it both ways! It is either a Constitutional Right or it's not! By picking and choosing who you think would be a problem to have that Right, disqualifies it as such! Want to know what would be better for all of us if we could do this? Deciding again, who shouldn't be allowed to vote.
