Looks like we will be taking another ride down condescending street. Just as I expected. Dave, you and I have done this before, and that's the reason for my comment.

I'm not offended either. It's expected out of you.

Take it to PMs please :)

The sheer volume of stuff posted for sale here could be another reason. I doubt it though. I think the main problem is people expecting to get a like new price for a used item. It just ain't happenin'!

I spent $550 on this Glock and only shot it 200 times, so I should be able to get $560 out of it because I'm including three mags, the box, books, lock, and cleaning tool, right? Beating a dead horse at this point, but that's what most black automatic pistol ads look like, that's probably why there are 45 bumps with no sale. Happens all the time with motorcycles ads in much the same way. I only rode this $3500 250 for three months before I outgrew it and needed a Hayabusa. I need $4500 firm. Or I stuck a $300 muffler and some Cycle Gear turn signals on this $9,000 bike and rode it for a year. It's custom, asking $11,000, don't insult me with lower offers.

I do see some tempting deals once in a while, I just don't need an $800 pistol.

Hey and I should've expected yours as it is also exactly within your online character. Honestly though I really didn't pay close attention to who said exactly what. I read the postings but don't frequently pay attention to who posted it. If I had noticed your online handle I would've not posted rather than deal with this drama. Have a great day and good luck selling whatever it is you're trying to sell.

I won't respond so please feel free to get the last word.

    Yea...that's my take also.

Many adds have the gun listed...plus a holster no on wants...plus a speedloader...plus a lock....and then want to take the retail of the total items....subtract 20.00 bucks....and act like that's a great deal.

Even if a package deal makes sense, it's usually easier for me to buy the gun, then buy the accessories later, and the ammo a little at a time. Also some guns I want a thousand rounds for, and others I happy with 60 to 80 rounds.

There were several good deals on here in the last week. The OD Green 17 and the 3 HK pistol combo deal were scooped up very quickly.

Frankly, I love the classifieds. Rather, I love threads ABOUT the classifieds.

Its like watching a daytime soap.

    Season 1 - There's people sh****g on folks ads.
Season 2 - Why can't we s**t (comment) on folks ads.
Season 3 - People are asking way too much for their s**t.
Season 4 - People are offering way too little for my s**t.

Anybody want in on a pool to predict the next fashionable complaint.

    Sheesh.

Then there is people like me who buy at decent prices but cant even get what i paid for it when i sell it. I couldnt sell a 100 dollar bill for 80 bucks. lmao

    SOLD!!!:D

This question comes up every spring:

Yes, part of the answer is its a soft market.
Yes, part of it is people wanting to recoup (too high) prices they paid.

    But more:
People buy guns in the winter, and shoot them in the summer.

This is worse, weathers actually pleasant. People are buying and burning brass, not steel.

I think a lot of you sort of answered your own questions on the prices. New members asking outrageous prices for panic buys aside, most people asking slightly high prices for guns is a side effect of being around long enough to realize people are always going to offer less. I call it the BS Rule of 50. No matter what you ask, high, fair, or low...people will always offer $50 less. I always ask $50 more than I'm looking for, and if someone wants to pay asking price awesome. But more likely they offer $50 less, and we all go home happy.

And when I sell something I'm not trying to make friends. If I can get more money at the expense of upsetting the more sensitive members of BS, oh well. I can't afford to take a hit for the sake of your sensibilities.

Just about any used item's price is going to be negotiated. Sellers want to get every dime they can, buyers are in the used market because they're looking for a deal, and they have to meet somewhere. Leaving room for negotiation is one thing, listing for the same or higher than new just makes the item look unattractive and is probably the reason your item is not moving, even if you are willing to take a much lower price. Besides that, the seller doesn't have to take any offer they don't like. Someone offers you $50 less for an already great price? Great, tell them no, end of conversation. Same goes for the buyers offering less. They're either going to get the deal they're looking for or move on. Not really sure why anybody's getting offended.

My current ad has received some truly pitiful offers. I understand everyone is looking for a good deal, but offering $250 for a item listed at $350 just shows poor form.

    JR1572

Why is it "poor form"? To me it's the start of negotiations. If you aren't willing to negotiate a simple "No Thanks" or put "Price is firm" in your ad.

There's a difference between making a "reasonable offer" and "low balling" someone.

    I'm sure you understand that.

Do you know what low balling is?

    Main Entry: low·ball
    Pronunciation: \ˈlō-ˌbȯl\
    Function: verb
    Date: 1957
    transitive verb
1 : to give (a customer) a deceptively low price or cost estimate 2 : to give a markedly or unfairly low offer <lowballed him in contract negotiations>
    — lowball noun

    I'm referring to number 2.

Once in a while, a seller finds a sucker and a buyer finds a steal. Can you blame people for testing the waters? Are you going to turn down a seller because you think his price is unfairly low?
