I hope this just turns out to be a sick rumor. But can anyone confirm this news?

Story is he got home from the hospital and went out to his back yard and shot himself.

Really hope it is not true. I can't find anything online so thought I would ask here.

If true....what a sad sad day for the firearms world. I really hoped to attend an Awerbuck class someday. I had a chance a few years back, Pangris told me what great class it would be. I was out of town the week he was here and always regretted it.

Here are some pictures of him from a class a few years ago in Baton Rouge to help us remember him.

That was a great class and great group of guys to shoot with. I don't even know how many years it's been or how many classes with different instructors I've taken since but there's still a lot of things he taught that have stuck with me. Loved his attitude, style and no ******** approach (even though everything was, as he said, "********").

By request, here are a few more photos of Louis getting grief from Brannon and then Louis finally getting fed up with it all and telling him to shut the **** up or else. Those were the days.

Not in good taste to post a picture of a Deceased Professional Firearms Trainer with a pistol pointed at his students and his finger on the trigger!

Not in good taste to think you understand the totality of context based on 1/60th of a second in time.

And I am sure you are all knowing geoney.

Thanks, it would have been good knowing that in the beginning.

No sure, I do not, but perhaps instead of deflecting, you could take responsibility for your assumption, which in light of who it was about, is kinda foolish. You would think the assumption would go to the Deceased Professional Firearms Instructor, that he was not doing something most would consider patently wrong and was instead more probably doing something that was not properly conveyed via a single frame in time.

I noticed you voiced your uneducated opinion about the topic at hand, and foolishly thought I could do likewise.
    Sorry, my mistake.

I gotta ask. Why is he pointing a gun at a student? I assume it was part of the class and the gun was cleared by the student?

Dummy gun. Completely non-functional. It was part of a scenario, and yes he took the time to let the entire class inspect the gun.
