... you see a bullet hole in the gas pump when you're tanking up!

I was at Brothers gas station (pump 6 at the holmes blvd/terry pkwy location) today and looked up to see this:

I grew up on the westbank, but man it seems like everyday it gets worse. The sad part is this could be anywhere in the New Orleans area...for those of yall who live in or visit here stay safe and take this as a reminder to carry!

Funny cause I got as far as Brothers and knew immediately that it was the one on Terry Pkwy. I can't tell you why I had that feeling but found it interesting. I hate just passing by that place going and coming from fishing in Myrtle Grove. I grew up at 229 Terry Pkwy and it kills me seeing how that place is today....

Do that as I'm curious to which shooting you are referring to....shame what happened last month there and ran everybody out of the food court..Place has really changed. We used to walk there all the time, me and my buds when were not even in our teens and everything was cool...nobody messed with us ever.

There's about 10 bullet holes in the stop sign at then entrance/exit to English turn parkway/woodland (406). Theres also tire marks on the highway, looks like someone shot up the stop sign and decided to do donuts in the middle of woodland highway. Glad once you get behind the gates, there's none of that mess.....

Also, I used to live in an apartment when I was in college, and it was in the WB. And it seemed almost nightly, there was a report on the news of some sort of crime happening on Holmes. I avoid that street like the plague. There's a street off Gen Degaulle, called Garden oaks that always has "issues".

Yeah, Holmes went to crap when they built those townhouse looking section 8 units between Stumpf and Berhman Hwy. The riffraff eventually moved towards the WB expressway and inhabited the apt. complexes which used to be decent and now are crappy looking, even after being redone after Katrina. Spent most of my childhood till 11th grade in the A and B sections so as I said above, it kills me seeing how pitiful the place is..

My cousin just bought a place walking distance from Gretna gun works. Are you saying it's a bad area or relatively safe?

Old Gretna is very safe. My wife's cousin and his wife (just got married) bought a place around the corner from Gretna Gun Works on 4th street and it's a great neighborhood.

Gretna as a whole is very safe compared to the rest of Jefferson Parish on the WB. There might be break ins and thefts but nothing major according to the family and friends still down there. Old Gretna is really coming back to life and is getting nicer by the month.

Very cool, my cousins place is on 4th also! You and I may have crossed paths without knowing it haha

I was there for thanksgiving break and we took a walk to the levee one night. Killer view of the city!

Gretna is great, I have a buddy that lives in Timberlane, and he can't say enough good things about it. Also near the Gretna court house, theres a few small places to eat, and you can walk along the river. Really nice historical looking part of town. Houses are dated, but the area is fine. Also the new Rouses has some of the best customer service around. I couldn't find a house in grenta that met my criteria, so I moved to a secluded part of New Orleans. Its Orleans parish, but is sure doesn't feel like it.

I used to visit Westwego once a week to cut come grass. I think i did this for a two or three year period and managed to be within shouting distance of two shootings.
