Well, just in time for Thanksgiving! :p

If someone had immediate concerns about their safety, shouldn't they have called someone two weeks ago?

That black guy who's "accused" of shooting that Tulane Med Student was denied bond....So what's the difference b/t him and these other two accused murderers?

Something just dawned on me about this situation in light of what's going on in Chicago. Weren't these officers black and the man and his son white? Where's Jesse and Al?

I was on MSN the other day and there were two stories about police officer shootings. the first one was about the Marksville shooting and in the whole article not once was race mentioned. I looked for it specifically because of the circumstances involved. I then proceeded to read the second article and in the first paragraph the race of the officers/victims involved was pointed out and of course it was white police and black suspect. The blatant agenda of news sites these days is getting out of hand if it is not race/religion related then they don't want to point it out. If they are going to mention the race of the police/victims then they should do it for all cases and not just the ones that fit their agenda.

On a side note I also saw the newly released video of the shooting in Chicago. I know police officers have a horribly difficult job but the officer in that video deserves what he is going to get. the suspect was not even close enough to do him harm with the knife when he shot him. Also with the 3 or four officers around they could have handled the situation better. Granted the victim should not have had a knife out and in his hand as well but damn it just looked bad.

Maybe more effort should be expended in education of people on both sides of the fence. Better deadly force use management for police and then education for citizens in areas where shootings are prevalent to not do things that exacerbate situations like having a weapon and brandishing it at police.

But it is all about the protests and free TVs when rioting occurs. maybe if you are caught rioting in another geographical area there should be elevated penalties for the infractions that would stop the bussing in of rabble rousers from out of the area where the event that caused the protest occurred.

I only hope that the push for body cameras and more dash cameras in vehicles will introduce more accountability for the police and the victims of these shootings so that we can see what is really happening without the eyewitness shadings of events.

So, you are asking for the parasitic news media to shed light on all injustices in the country? Impartially? :eek3:

    :bowrofl:

As for your Chicago incident; I don't think the initial two shots were the main problem. It was the 14 that came after the victim hit the ground!

When I saw it, it appeared to me that his 2nd shot, possibly 3rd, hit a vital or the vertebral column. Because he folded like a sheet when he went to the ground. The victim was completely immobilized; possibly paralyzed at that instant!

Given the accused cops history, he must be crazy! There is no logical explanation for emptying the mag of 13 or 14 additional shots. I would be interested in knowing if the other cops noticed this guy going into some psychotic trance as he was unloading. He had to be going through a Bill Drill with that pistol.

I watched the video with the sound on this time and they said that he unloaded his whole magazine and that he was going to reload when other officers stopped him. Damn......

    Did not hear this!

Then he is a lunatic! I would plead insanity if I were his defense attorney!

This video is edited but you get the gist of the issue.

Found the entire dash cam video but it is horrible and you can't see anything once he goes down after the initial shots. not much more than what is in the link I posted. I think the reporter in the clip I posted is sensationalizing it as the other video I saw did not show anything more so not sure where he got his statement that he was trying to reload and other officers stopped him unless no media outlet is truly showing the complete video for some reason.

On a serious note. I don't know what the appropriate amount of rounds should be to incapacitate a hostile individual, but to me (who is completely untrained and unqualified to judge these situations) 14 rounds may be excessive. Don't get me wrong, shooting this guy doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hell if two shots would have been fired and the perp died instantly, I would say this is a justifiable use of deadly force.

I was talking about this with some friends last night and came to the conclusion that the shooting could have been deemed justified if he would have stopped shooting once he went down. In the video it looks like he shoots and on the second shot the person rag dolls down. At that point I think it is a justifiable shooting. the part that makes it charge worthy to me is that he then emptied the magazine in the person while he lay on the ground not moving. Also no other police officer fired any shots so that to me means they did not fear for their lives and one of them seemed to be closer to the person than the one that did the shooting. I also think it looks kind of sketchy that the car that recorded the video seems to turn to the right so that he doesn't get the full scene on video but only gets the person being shot with no surrounding video. But could be training to turn car sideways to block the way. maybe they need to start looking into 360 degree recording for the patrol cars so that they can get the whole perspective on an incident.

My only problem is that it is so easy to Monday morning quarterback these kinds of things after the fact but in the heat of the moment who can say what is right or wrong. But should we be able to hold our police officers to a higher standard because this is their job and they should be getting the proper training to handle these situations?
