It ultimately will depend on what kind of pizza you like. I've had decent stuff at Theo's before. Maybe you had an off day there.

Have you tried Dominica? It's a John Besh place, and the pizza was terrific, no matter which style you wanted.

Yeah may have been off, however the dude I was with who suggested the place didn't make any remark on the pizza. If I invite people to a restaurant and it doesn't perform I'll make sure they know that's not the norm.

I like all kinds, thin, pan, never had Chicago but sounds good. I really like the thin brick fired pizzas. Theo was thin but literally like a cracker with not a lot of flavor. It was the meat Pizza that only a refugee would have gotten excited about.

Never had Dominica but I have no doubt it's delicious

Brooklyn is gtg for thin crust.
That's Amore has the Chicago deep dish on lock.
Mo's for when you just want to slip quietly into a pizza coma.

I can't stand watching the guy at Brooklyn blowing under the pizza to get it off the peel and into the oven. I'm sure his garlic infused spit won't survive 800 degrees, but I still don't want it on my food.

    Zita's review by Brawny

The cashier chick was really hot.
The pizza was thin crust but flexible, not crackery like, um, others.
Topping were good, no surprise there.
The cheese I found to be too, I don't know, rubbery. I've had that happen at other "good" pizza places. I don't know if that's just higher quality (read, not chain) cheese or what. I don't find it very pleasant but that might not can be avoided.
Overall it was a good pizza, I don't have a problem going back to see how their other pizzas are.

I went to Theo's in Elmwood today (I got outvoted). They now have a sign asking you to leave your weapons in the car. :(

When I see a sign like that at a place of business when I walk inside, and they ask if they can help me or how many in the party to be seated, I reply no or none as according to their sign I am not welcome there and will take my business elsewhere. I turn around, walk out and leave.

BUT if you drive just a bit.... Pizza Nola is fantastic. Its on Harrison between Pontchartrain and where Tony Angelo's used to be, on the right in a strip mall. Food is great! All real fresh ingredients. Just pizza done right...

Right down the road from Pizza Nola, I'll check it out.
Pizza Florence is on the list too.

I was waiting on you to go and give a report. I ended passing there today, noticed it, turned around and went. BBQ chicken pizza was very good. Good enough to go back. Every ingredient was good on its own and good together of course.

They serve breakfast so we could have had that. A few of the breakfast items sounded good. Shrimps and grits being one. Crab cakes being another.

    Pizza Nola gets another vote.

I'll try to remember to go by this week one night. Problem is that I have developed some kind of food allergy. I had a calzone from Rotolos the other day and suffered for a while

Mine is not gastrointestinal. That's very rare. Mine affects my esophagus right below the vocal chord. It gets tight, not choking, and develops a lot of mucous. I know, too much info.

    TMI back.
I get something very similar when i eat certain things. I think it is more related to a sugar in my case. Usually soon after eating but doesn't last long.

You sure that's not some sort of food allergy?

That's exactly what I think it is. Request Dust Off, I think I have a problem with sugar as well. I'm trying to figure it out and so far it seems that everything I enjoy doesn't enjoy me

Domenica's in The Roosevelt Hotel or Pizza Domenica's on Magazine are my favorites. Closest thing to the real napolitano pizza that I've had this side of the Atlantic.
